werk7
Munich, Germany
- German Design Award (2020)

The dismantling of the former Kultfabrik in 2015 marked the start of the urban redevelopment of Munich's Werksviertel-Mitte district – an area that is reimagining culture, history and urban life. Part of this transformation is Werk7, which emerged from the former Pfanni potato warehouse (factory hall 7).
Between 2016 and 2018, the hall was extensively converted into a theatre with an area of around 1,500 m² and almost 700 seats. Its central feature is a 180-degree stage that allows performances on three sides. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on 18 October 2017 – as one of the first completed buildings in the new district. The conversion cost around six million euros.
A striking architectural feature of the new Werk7 is the façade made of LAMBERTS LINIT©EcoGlass. The translucent glass creates a pleasant, diffuse light distribution in the interior – ideal for use as an event venue. After dark, the glass façade reveals its special effect: backlit with coloured light, the profiled glass becomes a radiant projection surface – an atmospheric eye-catcher and a sign of the cultural vitality of the new city quarter that can be seen from afar.
