Railway Station Veltins-Arena Schalke 04, Gelsenkirchen
Gelsenkirchen, Germany

The roof over the bus stop at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen is an impressive architectural project by Staubach + Kuckertz Architects. The stop is used by public transport and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Veltins Arena, the stadium of FC Schalke 04. The roof was designed with the aim of providing protection from the weather and adding aesthetic value to the surrounding area. Its shape and structure blend harmoniously with the modern, functional design of the stadium and its surroundings.
Particularly noteworthy is the striking roof shape, which creates a wide-span, floating effect. The use of profiled glass for the side walls takes the design of the canopy to a new level. It not only gives the stop an elegant, almost sculptural form, but also allows for optimal light transmission. This visually connects the stop with the surroundings of the Veltins Arena and the urban context of the city. The glass protects against the elements without compromising the openness of the structure.
