Puma Outlet Center
Herzogenaurach, Germany

When you turn off the A3 motorway towards Herzogenaurach at dusk, you are greeted by a bright red cube with an iconic big cat emerging as a striking landmark – an oversized shoe box that serves as a symbol for PUMA, the world's third-largest sportswear manufacturer. The original Puma shoe box served as a template for the building, which was designed by architect Klaus Krex.
PUMA expanded its headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Franconia, in several construction phases. The new building, which began in 2016, combines the two previous locations into a modern office complex. In almost two years of construction, more than 1,400 tonnes of steel and 9,500 m³ of concrete were used in the project. The building, which has a floor space of 10,200 m² and six floors, offers space for up to 550 employees. It is connected to the old building by a bridge.
The complex not only houses the administrative centre and the world's largest PUMA Factory Outlet Store, but also the striking Brand Centre with a multimedia hall and exhibition rooms. Architect Klaus Krex was inspired by the PUMA Formstrip when designing the building's arch. The arch replicates the striking logo and also serves as a grandstand inside.
