Norderoog and Süderoog
Berlin, Germany
- Deutscher Bauherrenpreis (2020)

The Norderoog and Süderoog student residences are named after the Halligen islands of the same name and are located on corner plots on the busy Amrumer Straße in Berlin. The residential units are located on the courtyard side and are protected from traffic noise by communal areas on the street side. Open walkways and terraces connect the two identical buildings, which offer space for 195 residents in 25 residential clusters. These 250-square-metre residential units each consist of four two-person apartments with two bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette. They share a communal area with a dining area, a large kitchen and a studio.
With their profiled glass façades, the two residential buildings create a visual accent between the existing buildings. The double-shell LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass clarissimo allows plenty of light into the rooms while protecting against prying eyes from outside. The building envelope, which consists largely of the glass façade, meets the KfW 55 energy standard, meaning that the buildings require only 55 per cent of the energy of a conventional new building and are therefore particularly environmentally friendly.
