The MetLife Building
New York City, USA

During the renovation of the MetLife Building in New York City, a new backlit base was created above the ground floor, impressively highlighting the modern aesthetics of the iconic skyscraper. For the implementation, the architects chose low-iron LAMBERTS LINIT©EcoGlass profiled glass with a ‘prismasolar’ surface structure.
The large glass wall extends over the entire length of the podium and prominently displays the building's name above the main entrance. Vertical frames were deliberately omitted to create a calm, continuous look that achieves a clear, homogeneous effect both in daylight and when illuminated.
Moed de Armas & Shannon Architects realised the project on an area of over 250 square metres. Completed in 2022, the new entrance design has been making a striking, contemporary statement in the heart of New York City ever since.
