Sports House OKAY

Sporthaus Okay is part of the Intersport Group and is located in the centre of Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. It offers all kinds of sports equipment, such as ski and snowboard gear, climbing accessories, bicycles, shoes and sportswear. The building fills a gap that had been gaping for almost 40 years in Innsbruck's pedestrian zone, Maria-Theresien-Straße. Its cubic shape is based on the historical and urban planning requirements of the old town.

According to the architectural firm, the motto for the new building was ‘A piece of glacier in Maria-Theresien-Straße’. The client, Wintersport Tirol AG, also operates the Stubai Glacier Cable Cars.

So a glass façade made of LAMBERTS LINIT^®EcoGlass “azur” was chosen to create a glacier-blue building on the prestigious boulevard. Its translucent shell takes away the heaviness of the building and makes it something special among the surrounding houses. Simple and elegant during the day, it glows like a glacier-blue ice cube at night.
