Slip House
London, England
- RIBA National Award: Manser Medal (2013)

The ‘sliding’ house consists of three rectangular blocks stacked on top of each other and shifted towards the street. This gives it a sculptural form. The cantilevered boxes contain living, sleeping and working spaces. A large roof garden completes the property. Architect Carl Turner designed this building as his own home.
The Slip House has won several awards for its design, including the prestigious Manser Medal and the RIBA National Award for the best house in the United Kingdom. It is now one of the most famous houses in London. To maximise light and privacy, Turner used colour-enamelled clarissimo glass profiles.
The internal, diagonally braced structure is visible to a greater or lesser extent depending on the incidence of light through the milky glass cladding.
