Medienpool Waterloohain
Hamburg, Germany

The Waterloohain media pool in Hamburg is a hub for creative professionals. Advertising agencies, graphic design studios, photographers and filmmakers work in the converted building at Waterloohain 9, which used to house Hamburg's largest bowling alley with twelve lanes spread over three floors.
During the renovation, the old bowling alley was to remain visible despite the new façade. The existing building was therefore enveloped in a glass façade made of sandblasted LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass, behind which the old building is visible as a shadowy structure: the floors of the office building shimmer through the U-glass on the outside.
To protect the offices from cooling down or heating up, the spaces between the composite profiled glass panes were fitted with translucent thermal insulation. The combination of thermal insulation and glass allows light to diffuse into the interior, creating a pleasant working atmosphere for creative minds.
