KREA Arts Center
Vitoria, Spain

The KREA building in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Spanish Basque Country, has had an eventful history. Originally planned as an art centre, the striking building now houses a public Basque school of art and design. At the heart of the building complex is an old neo-Gothic monastery, which was used as a Carmelite church from 1904 onwards.
In 2008, a futuristic new building was added, which, together with the monastery premises, was to be used as an art centre. Its most striking feature is a glass bridge spanning the roof of the convent. It connects the ends of a glass corridor that winds its way in a serpentine shape alongside the old convent and leads into the cloister inside the convent.
The bridge and corridors are clad with low-iron LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass 504 profiled glass. Transparent window panes are set into the bridge corridor, offering views of the church complex and the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
