Juri Gagarin Sports Hall
Stralsund, Germany

The sports hall at the Juri Gagarin Primary School in Stralsund (Germany) has been newly constructed as a single-pitch sports hall on the Gagarin Campus, replacing the existing gymnasium which was demolished. The new building is situated opposite the existing school grounds and is therefore closely integrated with school operations in practical terms, whilst being clearly separated from them spatially by a kerb.
The hall is designed as a multifunctional sports facility and meets the requirements for school, competitive, club, recreational and mass participation sports. This high diversity of use places particular demands on robustness, flexibility and the organisational separation of different modes of operation. The internal layout is accordingly organised into clear functional zones with short distances between changing rooms, equipment rooms and the hall area.
LINIT©EcoGlass cord was installed for the façade and window areas. This profiled glass enables uniform, glare-free daylighting whilst providing high levels of visual screening and privacy. The translucent structure directs natural light deep into the space, whilst simultaneously supporting thermal and acoustic requirements in the interests of energy-efficient hall operation.
