Jochen Schweizer Arena
Taufkirchen, Germany

The event arena of entrepreneur Jochen Schweizer in Taufkirchen near Munich was constructed in the shape of a three-bladed propeller. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy activities such as surfing and flying in a wind tunnel across an area of around 15,000 square metres. Each rotor blade represents a different experience from the Jochen Schweizer portfolio.
Opened in 2017, the building was constructed using a reinforced concrete skeleton structure and clad with profiled glass panels up to seven metres long. The elements enabled the architects to easily realise the round and oval parts of the façade. This created light-flooded, glare-free rooms that cannot be seen from the outside.
Translucent thermal insulation, which was inserted into the cavities of the double-shell profiled glass panels, ensures a pleasant indoor climate.
