H&M store
Seoul, South Korea

Gangnam is an exclusive, modern centre in Seoul, South Korea, with gleaming skyscrapers, designer brands and elegant nightclubs. The Garosu-gil shopping street runs through the district, where the eye is constantly drawn to striking buildings and colourful neon signs.
One shop stands out from the crowd with its striking simplicity of form and style. It is the façade of a branch of the Swedish fashion chain H&M, which has refused to blend in with its flashy neighbours.
With the exception of the ground floor, the entire five-storey commercial building is clad in an elegant white shell made of LAMBERTS LINIT® EcoGlass “solar”. The U-glass was produced with low iron content and sandblasted on the inside. Its velvety surface gives the converted former commercial building from the 1980s a dignified yet understated appearance during the day. This sets it apart from its restless surroundings in a stylish way.
At night, the building is backlit in a single colour and stands out as a calm still image amid the dazzling flashing neon signs.
