Heat supply Zurich West, Josefstrasse CHP plant
Zurich, Switzerland

At a height of around 90 metres, the shimmering metal crown sits enthroned on the chimney of the renovated energy centre on Josefsstrasse in Zurich, Switzerland. The outer shell made of LAMBERTS LINIT EcoGlass L dominates the appearance of the cylindrical chimney crown. The sophisticated structure, which is more than ten metres in diameter, over four metres high and weighs 14 tonnes, was assembled on the ground and lifted onto the tower in just 30 minutes using a huge heavy-duty crane. The new façade of the combined heat and power plant was also clad with LINIT EcoGlass. The architects opted for a combination of toughened LINIT Moiré with Azure coating and toughened LINIT 504. At night, the structure is illuminated by a delicate play of shadows on the glass surface.
