Glass House
Dillon Beach, USA
- AIA: California Council Residential Design Honor Award (2016)

The award-winning C-Glass House in Northern California stands on a compacted sand dune in a unique location on the Pacific Ocean. It offers spectacular panoramic views of a bay and the open sea. The building braces itself against strong winds that regularly blow from several directions at speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour against the glass façade. The house was robustly constructed to withstand the high wind speeds. Its glazing strategy follows a diagonal division: transparent windows and sliding windows set in steel frames on the north and west façades allow views of the water.
The south- and east-facing façades are fitted with sandblasted and tempered 7-millimetre-thick LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass profiled glass, which ensures high light incidence and privacy at the same time. ‘The thickness of the glass is appropriate for this windswept location,’ was also stated in the AIA Design Award jury's statement. ‘At the same time, it offers a different type of surface that seems to improve the quality of light.’
