The multi-award-winning new building for the Faculty of Fine Arts is located on the edge of the university campus in San Cristóbal de La Laguna on the Canary Island of Tenerife. The distinctive, curved façade of the building is a landmark visible from afar and is considered one of the city's icons.
With a mix of structured reinforced concrete and sandblasted LAMBERTS LINIT®Ecoglass, the façade protects the open interior of the building, which has a usable area of 32,000 square metres. It also separates the classrooms for art studies from the exhibition areas intended for the public. The pearl structure of the U-glass diffuses daylight inside, showcasing the art objects and creating a pleasant working atmosphere for the students.
The faculty was completed in June 2014. Its construction cost amounted to around 23 million euros.
