Depesche high rack warehouse
Geesthacht, Germany

The distribution company Depesche distributes around 16,000 items from the greeting card, gift, toy and school supplies sectors from its 23,000 square metre logistics centre in Geesthacht to over 40 countries. Every day, more than 1,000 orders are put together according to customer requirements. Depesche was founded in Hamburg in 1985, now employs more than 300 people and is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of greeting cards and gift items. One of its greatest successes was the manufacture and sale of Diddl Mouse products.
In 2001, a high-bay warehouse with 20,000 pallet spaces was completed on the company premises in Geesthacht. The design was created by the award-winning, internationally active architectural firm Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp). Instead of developing a purely functional hall construction, the planning office designed an aesthetic building and opted for LINIT®EcoGlass. The profiled glass panels are arranged in blocks of four horizontally at a slight upward angle and are separated from the next block by a protruding metal roof. This gives the glass façade a striking structure.
