Casa BFF
Milan, Italy

Casa BFF is the new headquarters of BFF Banking Group in Milan, a major Italian financial company. The building is located in Milan's Portello district, a rapidly developing neighbourhood and an important urban access point. It was designed by the architectural firm OBR - Open Building Research.
The building is not only an office building, but also an urban project that gives the city space a new public piazza and cultural uses. Its architectural heart is the spacious atrium, which is designed as a vertical, spatially connecting interior. It links the BFF Gallery, a publicly accessible exhibition space with works of modern and contemporary art, with the office floors and creates a clear spatial orientation. The atrium functions as the social and atmospheric centre of the building.
The use of LINIT©EcoGlass profiled glass is a defining feature of the atrium's design. It allows for even, diffuse daylighting without allowing direct views into the building. This creates a bright, calm lighting atmosphere that lends the space depth and generosity while maintaining privacy. In addition to its spatial effect, the glass also fulfils functional requirements: it contributes to the energy efficiency of the building and, thanks to its laminated design, is very robust and durable, thus fitting in with the sustainable overall concept of Casa BFF. In combination with the clear supporting structure and the high ceilings, an atrium has been created that, as a timeless, light-filled interior, defines the character of the entire building.
