Blue Water Arena
Esbjerg, Denmark

The Blue Water Arena is a football stadium in Esbjerg, Denmark, which was opened in 1955 and extensively modernised in 2008 at a cost of around 14 million euros. Today, it can accommodate 18,000 spectators. The two-storey stands are largely covered, creating a compact, enclosed atmosphere.
During the renovation, 5,500 tonnes of concrete and 640 tonnes of steel were used. A striking design feature is the glass façade, which covers an area of 3,760 square metres. Here, low-iron, matt LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass was used, a sandblasted profiled glass that diffuses light and creates diffuse reflections. In contrast to glass with directional light transmission, clear contours disappear, creating a soft white shimmer that gives the façade additional visual depth. This effect is particularly striking when the stadium is illuminated from the inside.
The reduced iron content increases light transmission, enhancing the brilliance of the glass and giving the architecture a modern, elegant look.
