Bicycle Hotel
Lillestrøm, Norway

The Bicycle Hotel is a bicycle parking facility in Lillestrøm, a small town near Oslo that has been voted Norway's best cycling town several times. The 500-square-metre garage can accommodate 400 bicycles and electric bikes for a small monthly fee, keeping them dry and safe while their owners are at work or travelling.
The Bicycle Hotel, which opened in October 2016, is located next to the train station and is designed as a glass cube with a free-form wooden roof on a concrete base. The room height varies from 2.70 m to 6.00 m according to the curvature of the roof. On one side, a ramp slopes upwards to a public green strip on the roof, which is directly connected to the railway station. According to the city's architects, the project is intended to give back the space that was taken away.
The sandblasted glass walls made of LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass profiles allow natural light to pass through during the day and transform the building into a luminous box at night, offering a special visual experience and illuminating the surroundings of the car park.
