Aurea - Motorway Rest and Service Area
Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany

The Rheda-Wiedenbrück truck stop in the Aurea industrial park on the A2 motorway is visible from afar. At night, its brightly lit, colour-changing glass façade attracts car and truck drivers to the meeting point. During the day, its outer shell shimmers in an elegant, glassy white.
Above it towers a 38-metre-high advertising pylon as an eye-catcher, guiding visitors to the petrol station and restaurant. The architects were tasked with creating a strikingly good design to ensure the economic success of the project. This resulted in the design of the striking glass façade, which was constructed as a cantilever between supports.
Environmentally friendly LAMBERTS LINIT®EcoGlass profile glass ensures optimum energy gains and shines with its attractive appearance. The thermally toughened U-glass used here withstands high wind loads, is temperature-resistant and has a very low risk of breakage.
